Enrique Peñalosa is the former two-time mayor of Bogota, during which time he led the expansive transformation of the city into a model of sustainability, mobility, and social equity. These transformative interventions include the introduction of a bicycle path network, slum upgrading projects, improving access to public and green space access in the poorest areas of Bogota, and the hallmark of his policies – the creation of the TransMilenio Bus Rapid Transit Network.
